A runner’s high In the fall, as the leaves turn to goldI feel the presence of God unfoldWith each stride and step I takeMy spirit comes alive and starts to wake. The solitude that running producesAllows my heart to open up to JesusWith the beauty of nature all aroundI feel His love in every sound. The sun’s beams gently kiss my skinAs the wind rushes past with a grinThe sound of birds chirping in delightAdds to the peacefulness of the sight. Leaves crunching underfoot remind meOf all the sins from which He set me freeThe freedom from distractions so grandI’m free to worship, to lift up my hands. On the trail, serendipitous interactionsWith strangers are some divine attractionsFeeling connected with others who runWe unite as we bask in a race already won. The feeling of joy that’s hard to explainAs I run and call on Jesus’ nameI am most connected to God when runningIt’s where my soul finds its homecoming. Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us —Hebrews 12:1 Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Like this:Like Loading...
